Legendary coach Bill Belichick further entrenched himself in Nantucket life this week, acquiring a new property in the heart of the island. The 72-year-old Belichick, who already owns a waterfront compound on Nantucket’s east end, reportedly closed on a $4.8 million house on Fair Street.
The newly acquired property sits just steps away from Nantucket’s bustling Main Street. Built in 1983 and renovated in 2017, the four-bedroom, four-bath gambrel-style home adds to Belichick’s existing island portfolio.
This isn’t Belichick’s first foray into Nantucket real estate. A longtime visitor, Belichick has been spotted enjoying the island’s offerings for years, from cruising the harbor on his yacht (aptly named “8 Rings”) to attending the famed Daffodil Festival. In a 2017 interview with N Magazine, Belichick enthusiastically spoke about Nantucket’s charm, citing its natural beauty, friendly community, and rich history.
Belichick’s historic tenure with the New England Patriots concluded in January when he and team owner Robert Kraft amicably parted ways. While he was considered a candidate for the Atlanta Falcons head coaching position, the role ultimately went to Raheem Morris.
Belichick’s latest purchase signals a continued commitment to Nantucket. Whether it serves as a permanent residence or a vacation getaway, one thing’s for sure: Belichick is securing his place in the island’s tapestry.
