Lagos State Government Enforces Building Compliance in Ejigbo: Over 10 Structures Sealed

In a decisive move to enforce building regulations, the Lagos State Government has sealed more than ten buildings in the Ejigbo area. This action targets structures that have failed to comply with established building codes, aiming to ensure public safety and adherence to construction standards.

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has been actively monitoring construction activities across the state. Recent inspections in Ejigbo revealed several buildings that violated safety standards, lacked necessary permits, or deviated from approved plans.

During the enforcement exercise, LASBCA officials identified buildings with structural defects, unauthorized modifications, and non-compliance with safety regulations. The sealed structures include residential and commercial properties at various stages of completion.

The General Manager of LASBCA emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents. He stated that non-compliance with building regulations poses significant risks, including potential building collapses, which have been a concern in Lagos.

Property owners and developers in Lagos are reminded of the importance of adhering to building codes. The government has reiterated that it will continue to enforce regulations strictly, and non-compliant structures will face sanctions, including sealing and possible demolition.

This enforcement action underscores the Lagos State Government’s proactive measures to prevent building collapses and safeguard lives and properties. Residents are encouraged to report any suspected illegal construction activities to the authorities.
