NEOM, the ambitious smart city project in Saudi Arabia, has announced the establishment of a new concrete production complex to support construction work on its flagship development, The Line. The complex, built in partnership with Asas Al-Mohileb, will feature multiple plants dedicated to producing sustainable ready-mix concrete.
Valued at SAR 700 million (approximately $187 million), the facility will have a production capacity exceeding 20,000 cubic meters of concrete per day. This concrete is critical for the construction of both the substructure and superstructure of The Line, which aims to be a revolutionary, eco-friendly city stretching 170 kilometers. The factory is expected to generate over 500 local jobs, further contributing to Saudi Arabia’s economic growth as part of Vision 2030.
Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, emphasized the importance of this project, stating that it underscores the rapid progress NEOM is making and highlights the strength of local partnerships. The concrete plant will play a key role in ensuring that the construction of The Line meets its sustainability targets, as the facility incorporates carbon capture technology and other energy-saving innovations.
As construction on The Line accelerates, with over 1,000 foundation piles already installed, the concrete factory is set to mobilize its fleet and begin operations in full by early 2025. This development will help ensure that NEOM remains on track to meet its ambitious construction goals.
This concrete factory is just one of many infrastructure projects being developed in NEOM to ensure that the megaproject stays on schedule and aligns with its vision of sustainable urban living.
The Line, part of the broader NEOM initiative, represents a key milestone in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aimed at diversifying the economy and positioning the Kingdom as a global hub for sustainable technologies and industries.
