Neom, the futuristic city project in Saudi Arabia, is refuting claims that its ambitious plans for The Line are being downsized. Giles Pendleton, Chief Operating Officer of Neom, released a video this week directly addressing recent media speculation.
The 170-kilometer linear city, designed to house nine million people, has captured global attention for its technological and sustainable aspirations. However, some news outlets have suggested the project is facing setbacks.
Pendleton firmly denies these reports. The video, titled “Neom is Real: Part 14,” features footage of bustling construction activity, with hundreds of trucks and excavators working on prefabricated modules.
“The masterplan for The Line remains at 170 kilometers,” Pendleton states in the video. “We’ve always said it would be built in phases. Phase One is on track for launch later this year. Building a 170-kilometer city for nine million people all at once is simply not feasible. It’s like trying to build New York or London overnight.”
Neom officials acknowledge the project’s scale is unprecedented, but emphasize their commitment to a phased approach. The recently unveiled video serves as a progress report and aims to reassure investors and potential residents.
