The advantages of living in a home near water include the ability to enjoy nature, fresh air, and views of the outdoors. But there are also downsides to this lifestyle, such as increased property taxes, maintenance costs, and potential flooding.  

You may have to pay more than you expected.

There's no guarantee that it will always be available.

You should also consider whether you would prefer to own a home with a lake view or a backyard view. While both options offer benefits, each has disadvantages as well.   

You'll need to make regular maintenance visits.

If you choose to live near a body of water, you will need to keep an eye out for potential issues. For example, if you live near a lake, you will need to check the depth of the water periodically. In addition, you will need to pay attention to any signs of algae growth.   

You might find yourself spending time away from home.

There are also disadvantages to living near a body of water. For example, you will need to spend more money on utilities than you would if you lived elsewhere. Also, you will need to make sure that your property has adequate drainage so that water does not accumulate on your land.
