Toronto Building to Get a Boutique Hotel Makeover and Double in Size

A transformation is in store for a building near Toronto’s Shuter and Jarvis intersection. Currently a five-storey residential and commercial structure at 45 Mutual Street, it’s slated to nearly double in size as part of an exciting project to convert it into a brand new boutique hotel.

The expansion plans involve adding a four-storey addition on top of the existing building. This vertical extension will significantly increase the property’s floor area and provide the necessary space for the new boutique accommodation, aptly named Hotel Beebop.

Interestingly, despite the significant height increase, the expansion will only add four storeys – a relatively modest addition compared to the surrounding area. In fact, a 32-storey tower recently joined the neighborhood skyline just north of 45 Mutual Street in 2024. Even after its makeover, Hotel Beebop will remain dwarfed by its skyscraping neighbor.

News of the project comes courtesy of Fusioncorp Developments, which was recently awarded an $8 million construction management contract to oversee the conversion and expansion. Nick Ainis, co-founder & CEO of Fusioncorp, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are intrigued by this project,” hinting at potentially unique features Hotel Beebop may offer.

The transformation of 45 Mutual Street is sure to add a stylish hospitality option to Toronto’s vibrant hotel scene, while the expansion itself reflects the ongoing development and densification of the city’s core.
