Tech Billionaire’s Wife Eyes Singapore Mansion in $31 Million Deal

Ma Liqian, wife of tech billionaire Forrest Li, is reportedly set to acquire a luxurious mansion in Singapore’s prestigious Gallop Road district. This comes despite a recent slowdown in the city-state’s luxury property market.

According to documents obtained by Bloomberg News, Ma Liqian filed an option in April to purchase the so-called “good class bungalow” for S$42.5 million, which translates to roughly $31 million. The sprawling property boasts a land area of over 16,700 square feet. Interestingly, Li already owns a neighboring plot of land exceeding 15,000 square feet, placing their future estate in close proximity to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This acquisition follows other significant high-end property deals in Singapore. Recent reports اشاره (zhǐshǒu – indicate) a S$36 million sale at Cornwall Gardens and another mansion on Ford Avenue being snapped up for a cool S$39.5 million by a descendant of the Wee family, prominent figures in Singapore’s banking dynasty.

Ma Liqian’s wealth is primarily tied to her husband’s stake in Sea Ltd., Southeast Asia’s leading internet company. While Li’s fortune dipped during a tech industry downturn, it has since seen a partial recovery due to Sea Ltd. securing its first full-year profit since going public. Despite this positive turn, Li’s net worth currently sits at $3.8 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, placing him outside the ranking of Singapore’s richest person.
