Tech Titan Bill Gates Sells Medina Mansion in Speedy Sale

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, has parted ways with one of his properties in record time. The Medina, Washington, residence, a mid-century modern marvel, was listed for just under $5 million and sold after a brisk two weeks on the market, according to Re/Max, the real estate company handling the sale.

While the final sale price remains undisclosed, the property itself is a far cry from Gates’ sprawling Xanadu 2.0 estate situated nearby. This recently sold home offers a more modest 2,400 square feet with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, all boasting a prime lakefront location. Public records show Gates acquired the 1954-built home in 2003 for roughly $1.3 million.

The reasons behind the swift sale are likely a combination of factors. The inherent desirability of the property, including its waterfront location and modern design, undoubtedly played a role. However, the Bill Gates name recognition within the exclusive Medina market cannot be discounted either. Owning a residence next door to a tech billionaire holds a certain cachet for some.

Gates remains a major real estate player, with holdings across the country. From Florida estates to a Californian retreat with ocean views, his portfolio reflects a taste for luxury. Yet, the swift sale of this Medina property suggests there’s still a market for those seeking a connection to the tech titan, even in a more modest package.
