The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has demolished over 600 houses in the G estate in Lagos, Nigeria. The demolitions began a few days ago and are still ongoing. The government claims that the houses were built on water channels, while some of the owners of the houses claim that they did their due diligence before buying the land and building on it. 

It is unclear who is telling the truth, but it is important to note that there are some unscrupulous elements working for the government that get people authorizations through the back door. If you must buy land and build your house, you have to go through the right channel and do your due diligence.
